Door County – Day 4

We had breakfast at Carroll House again. Convenient to the Inn and reasonably priced. I learned that the family has been running the place for 69 years! What a run. I hope it continues. Wendy and I both had Eggs Benedict. It was good, a classic version of a classic breakfast staple.

We had to roll home today but had a few stops in mind as we made our way south.

This snake was on the sidewalk outside the High Point Inn. I believe it is a DeKay’s Brown Snake.

Wendy wanted to stop at Bay Vinyl Odin and pick up a Paramore album for Sydney so we did that.

We took HWYs S and 42 so as to avoid I-43 and took the long way home. Sorta, kinda scouting possible locations to move to someday. All on Lake Michigan.

  • Algoma
  • Kewaunee
  • Two Rivers
  • Manitowoc

While we were in Manitowoc we stopped at Late’s for Burgers, Cheese Curds and a Malt. Picked up a quart of split pea and ham soup too. I’d almost move to Manitowoc just for this place! The woman who was working I’ve seen before. A lady stopped in who’d worked there for 33 years and they chatted about a woman who had worked at Late’s for 62 years!

Mid-afternoon on a chilly day is a perfect time to avoid the crowds at Late’s in Manitowoc.
