Wendy and I went to a show at Anodyne and we were driving home when we rolled past Sabbatic. There were people milling about and music coming from within. I thought to myself “maybe we should stop and check it out”. I pulled over to see if I could find out who was playing and couldn’t. It was about 11pm, we’d just seen 4 bands at Anodyne and we were tired so we decided to head home.
The next morning I discovered that a couple of the bands were The Dirty Sweet and The Mighty Deerlick. If I’d know that the previous night I would have stopped for sure! My friend Chris is in Dirty Sweet and I’ve seen them a couple of times. Great band. Apparently he is also not in the Deerlick! I hadn’t seen Deerlick in many years and would love to check them out again. I will next opportunity.
Now, here’s where it gets pretty weirdly coincidental. I was shooting some photos of the Green Mile bike messenger type bike event and popped into Bremen Cafe as it was one of the stops where the riders needed to hit to get their manifest signed if they wanted to be in the running for the win. So, I am milling about and JK is talking to this guy Dave who, say it with me, is in the Mighty Deerlick! I texted Wendy to relate the coinquidink and she knew the guys back in high school or a bit beyond. JK, Dave and I spent some time reminiscing. All in all it was ver cool serendipity!
