Ressurecting this Blog?

Schmenzer is back! Not that I ever really went anywhere but this blog/site, I started it in 2005 apparently, has lain (laid?) dormant for about 8 years. I used it to document my shoulder/rotator cuff surgery in 2018 but it had been dormant since 2010 before that. Here’s the thing; I never stopped writing/blogging/reviewing. In general I’ve been doing content sites forever. They just took over the ME-NESS of my writing. Replacing it with writing for others and chasing the almighty dollar.

At some point in that 2018 area a malware injection killed this site and it was a bigger deal for me to fix it that I thought it was worth. WRONG! I needed the connection to the past and I found it via the Internet Wayback Machine. Over the years the site had been indexed there 115 times (calendar of crawls for schmenzer.com) and with the help of my current AI buddy, littlebird.ai, I was able to recover a good chunk of it. Most importantly the words. Pix are another story and I may, but probably not, go back and add photos in. I am sure I still have most of them archived at Flickr. 38,000 plus photos and 1,826,346 (as of this writing) views. That place has been dormant too. Tons of photos have been up loaded but are not public yet. More cleanup may be necessary.

So, why did I stop writing here?

So, what had happened was, in 2010 I got a Fat Bike and in early 2011 started fat-bike.com. this pretty much killed my time to just freeform blog and/or write something useful.

There has also been fullspectrumcycling.com and slopeflyer.com (started in 2000). Both still out there. Full Spectrum Cycling is still actively updated. Slopeflyer.com, not so much but I’m not done with it yet. Plus, there were other sites that have been consigned to the ether, minispeedway.com, rchobbyresource.com and educationalmom.com just to name a few.

Throw in the Everyday Cycles shop website, various social media and photography sites, testing places like Tumbler and I’ve cast a pretty wide net. Frankly, it has been exhausting. Getting schmenzer speaks! going again may be my attempt to reign in all that complexity.

I am sure I’ll have more to say about the journey that got me here but for now…

Say Bye!
