Door County – Day 3

46 this AM. 51 or so for the high.

Productive morning writing. 20 plus ideas onto Post Its. One idea per note. Wanted to write in the journal but this was faster and the ideas kept coming. I still want to get in the habit of using the Notebook. I added all the Post Its to my larger ledger book. I plan to start drafts at schmenzer speaks! and fill them in as I go.

Carrol House for BFast

  • Wendy stuffed French toast
  • Me Chicken and Waffles

Decent place and not froufy like so many other places up here. Old school in a good way.

I will now espouse my theory on tipping:

  • Not on sales tax or card fees
  • Not if we are standing and doing takeout
  • Not if you are the owner

Cave Point – The lake is low! We were able to get down on the flats like in 2012. Tested out the Thorogood boots splashing around one of the outcroppings. The passed with flying colors.

Whitefish Dunes – bought a park pass

Gas in Sturgeon Bay – $3.87? Thanks, Trump!

Bay Vinyl – stopped because they had a Hot Wheels sign. Got 2 for 1.75 and a Snafu record 29/200.

Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market – the Cherry Salsa is tasty so we bought a pint.

  • PC Junction closed
  • Stones Throw expensive. Wendy wanted a glass.
  • Couple this with the mediocre meal Friday at The Thirsty Cows and this has to be the most disappointing crossroads in Door County on this trip.

Harbor Market Grocery closed. Bummer because Bear’s sandwiches were tasty.

One Star – Chili Cheese Dogs. Pretty darn good. Sleeper of the trip!

  • Motel 6 or 12 month rentals at $850/mo. 6 or 7 units.

Mink River Basin –

  • Wendy – Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, fries – Spotted Cow
  • Me – WisCuban NO pickles, Salad – Voodoo Ranger Sweet Ride Juicy IPA

Still trying to figure out a style that I want to use journal. I’ll just have to start I guess. The old Git Er’ Done is pretty for ToDos but I will be writing other stuff too. Maybe I’ll start tomorrow.

Edited some of the pix from yesterday. The OM-1 had some weird artifacts from the B&W conversion that the Ricoh RAW file did not.

Took an hour to make a post because I kept exporting the images in the wrong format. Turn Off HDR JPEG, dummy!
